ABout Trudie
Trudie Folsom lives in the San Francisco Bay Area wine country at the top of Sonoma County in the quaint town of Cloverdale. Trudie began drawing at a young age, and especially loved drawing and painting horses. One of her oil paintings was featured in the magazine The Equine Image. She entered paintings in the annual Small Works Show when they were held at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts and at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts.
After a lifetime of drawing and painting, Trudie discovered weaving in 2016. Trudie weaves with wool, cotton, linen, and fabric remnants that would normally go into landfill, but especially with the wool from the endangered Navajo Churro sheep.
Trudie has a very practical nature and loves making beautiful, but useful items. Her current interests are weaving Chimayo and Rio Grande blankets, and table runners and pillows from upcycled materials. Her latest project is making yarn from unprocessed Churro wool on her spinning wheel.
